John Thielman

John Thielman is a clinical professor of legal studies and associate director of the Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk (CEAR) in the Department of Risk Management & Insurance, J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University.

Mr. Thielman is a former prosecutor, chief counsel with a Fortune 500 insurance company, managing attorney and trial attorney. He is a subject matter expert on litigation, litigation management and planning, insurance and ethics. In his current role, he is responsible for the management of the CEAR office, providing support for CEAR-related research, and to develop, foster and nurture a common sense of community and shared purpose among all members of CEAR’s worldwide network. In addition to his role as AD of CEAR, he teaches courses on the legal environment of business and ethics. He is licensed to practice law in Georgia, Florida, New York and Massachusetts.

Mr. Thielman received his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. He also holds a BA in psychology from Boston University. He lives in Alpharetta, Georgia, with his wife and two daughters.
