Influence Propagation in Networks, Strategic Dynamics, and Preference Change: An Interdisciplinary Workshop
August 18, 2025 - August 19, 2025
Park City, Utah
The past two decades have seen major advances in the integration of game theory and the science of social networks. Network formation, and behavioral patterns by which agents use networked structures, have crucial strategic dimensions. However, the literature on these topics, when confined to economics, has some limitations. This workshop will aim to make progress by assembling an interdisciplinary group of scholars to focus in particular on two of the limitations in question, to better understand the descriptive and normative modeling of strategic risks in social networks.
The workshop will bring together leading theoretical innovators from economic game theory, sociology, and cognitive science to explore the prospects for rigorous modelling of the strategic dimensions of influence propagation in networks of agents with mindshaping capacities.
