This workshop will consider the manner in which theory and empirical evidence can inform the debate over the structure and evaluation of microinsurance schemes in developing countries, as well as insurance products for poor people in developed countries. To what extent can the failure of take‐up in some schemes be explained, and used to improve the design and performance of other schemes? This workshop will also seek to bring together the academic researchers in this area, who span different disciplines, with practitioners that want guidance from academe.
