General Information

The Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Science at Georgia State University and the Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk are pleased to announce the first Climate Risk Management Conference. This year's conference will showcase cutting-edge research that quantifies climate change damage and the extent to which adaptation can mitigate these losses. The conference brings together experts from academia and the private and public sector for two days of talks at the GSU campus in Atlanta.

Keynote Speakers

Rohini Pande (Yale University)

Rohini Pande is the Henry J. Heinz II Professor of Economics and Director of the Economic Growth Center at Yale University, where she also serves as Faculty Director of Inclusion Economics. An elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a fellow of the Econometric Society, Pande has been recognized for her contributions to the field with honors such as the 2018 Carolyn Bell Shaw Award and the 2022 Infosys Prize in Social Sciences. Her research focuses on how institutions influence economic and political power dynamics in low- and middle-income countries, with a particular interest in policies that empower disadvantaged populations. Through Inclusion Economics, she collaborates with governments in South Asia to advance gender-inclusive development and improve local policymaking. Pande holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics, as well as degrees from Oxford University and Delhi University.

Wolfram Schlenker (Harvard University)

Wolfram Schlenker is the Ray A. Goldberg Professor of the Global Food System at Harvard Kennedy School and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His research examines how weather, climate, and pollution impact agricultural yields, migration, and human health, as well as how policies like the U.S. biofuel mandate influence commodity prices. Previously, he served as Professor and Vice Dean at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and as Co-director of the Center for Environmental Economics and Policy. Schlenker is a member of the Board of Reviewing Editors at Science and has been recognized for his contributions to environmental and resource economics. He holds a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Engineering and Management Sciences from the University of Karlsruhe, and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University.

CEAR will book and manage lodging reservations for all speakers and select guests whenever possible. CEAR will contact presenters directly to determine their lodging needs. All other attendees should book their own lodging. There are several options within walking distance of the conference building – be aware that there is no pre-negotiated rate at these hotels, so book at your own preferences.
